It's almost May and the world is bursting with life and joy. It is a time for new beginnings and celebrations, sex in the fields, and jumping over fires. But even now, with the longest day of the year just one turn of the wheel away, even now there is also a bottomless well of sorrow in our lives. Sickness and poverty, death and loss are all around us, and the sands of time are running through our fingers, never to return.
Loss is the sauce that adds zest to our lives, the compost which feeds the roots of our future. Its easy to turn away from the shadows, but there is power for us in the darkness. We need to go down low to fly high, just as we need to climb up high to dive deep.
This month I invite you to come to Spark and choose to consciously play with this duality, embracing both Above and Below. For the first half of our night together, we will invite in the Above, with zippy chants, fiery rhythms, and ecstatic movement. For the second half of the circle, we will will invite in the Below, with solemn charts, spacious rhythms and authentic embodiment. Together we will embrace the whole.
