Introduction to Mountain Dulcimer
Deborah “DJ” Hamouris

Also known as the Appalachian Dulcimer, this 3- or 4-stringed instrument has a captivatingly sweet sound and is a joy to play. Learn a few tunes in the basic D-A-D tuning and begin to have fun with this most simple of American instruments. Dulcimers needed — a few loaners available.

Deborah "DJ" Hamouris has studied music since the tender age of 5 and played dulcimer since 1979.  She teaches singing & dulcimer to private students in her Oakland home.  DJ & Buffalo (her husband) perform together as The DulciMates, performing annually at the Great Dickens' Christmas Fair and at local cafes & farmer's markets.  She also directs Women & Song, a women's singing group.  In her spare time (and when the cats allow) she knits.
